Michael Kors' Favourite Hotel: Singita Lebombo Lodge in South Africa

I've always thought Michael Kors was fabulous, and this just confirms it.

This is exactly what it says in the February issue of Harper's Bazaar: Michael Kors' favourite hotel in the world is Singita Lebombo Lodge in South Africa.

And you can see why! If you pay the roughly $1,500 a night to stay at the Singita Lebombo Lodge, you will certainly get an amazing hotel experience along with your game viewing. Their website lists the following amenities: Like the Lebombo Euphorbia tree after which it was named, the design of Lebombo Lodge is one of a kind. From the sweeping wooden decks, you can watch the theatre that unfolds before you, while the lap pool beckons to enjoy a relaxing afternoon. The fifteen suites feature contemporary finishes with beds dressed with Egyptian cotton and silky-soft throws. Enjoy dinner in the boma, then spend the evening, if you so wish, sleeping under the stars on the bed of your private terrace.

Your stay also includes Singita Lebombo Lodge rates include twice daily game drives with professional guides and trackers (a must if you are going from the States, in my opinion), guided safari walks on request, mountain biking and archery. Tariffs include all-suite accommodation, three meals per day, all drinks, including premium wines, spirits and liqueurs (excluding champagnes).

If you visit South Africa from far away, and only have a few days to go "on safari", here are a few tips I always give friends that are going. The first thing you need to know is that South Africans talk about going to the game reserve (like going to the beach), and not going "on safari" (just to avoid confusion).

With limited time, I highly recommend paying more and going somewhere where you will be able to go out with a game ranger and tracker - you will see much, much more of the wildlife, plus their knowledge is comparable and no book will be able to identify a bird call for you and tell you more about that bird. You don't need to stay somewhere as expensive as the Singita Lodges but make sure you get that ranger, plus go on a night drive, and if you can do it, a walk with ranger, too. It will change your life.
